Dry Heat's Potting Mix

Xeric plants are generally grown in a “potting mix” that does not contain soil. There are various successful approaches from purely mineral mixes to mixes with high organic content. At Dry Heat, we use what local experts in our area are successful with - a mix that is 75% pumice and 25% desert compost (certain plants will benefit from a higher organic ratio or higher mineral ratio). An absolute must regardless of your mix is good drainage and aeration for the roots!

It’s a good idea to repot every 1-2 years for a few reasons:

1️⃣ The plant will consume all of the nutrients and its growth will slow or stop.
2️⃣ It will be ready for more space.
3️⃣ A good root pruning will induce growth!
