Regular price

Euphorbia obesa, also known as the baseball or basketball plant, is a distinctive succulent native to South Africa. This plant gets its common names due to its round and compact shape, resembling a baseball or basketball. Its small, spherical form typically reaches about 6 inches (15 centimeters) in diameter and features a pale green to bluish-green coloration. Euphorbia obesa is favored by succulent enthusiasts for its unique appearance and straightforward care requirements.

This plant needs plenty of bright, indirect sunlight. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Additionally, provide well-draining soil and avoid overwatering, as Euphorbia obesa is susceptible to root rot in excessively moist conditions.

Care

Although similar to cacti, Euphorbia love a fast draining mix that is high in minerals. However, they do enjoy more water than their convergently evolved brethren. They can be acclimated to full sun but will thrive under partial shade (our greenhouse has 50% shade). Avoid freezes and water less often in the winter.
